Besides Eternals, which should be brought back with a new print and sewn binding.
It’s time to bring back the New X-men run collecting the work of Grant Morrison, this volume is going for a ton on eBay. The demand is there and yet as with Eternals, we have another case of new news of this being reissued. Add in sewn binding and make it happen Marvel.
I have some of these issues already, but to get it all in one nice volume with sewn binding would be great. And a deal worth having.
So if your an X-men fan, or Omnibus fan let me know what you think. And if you don’t believe the prices just check eBay under completed auctions. That is a crazy amount of cash some people have.
By far the best Omnibus I think is the Amazing Spider-Man one.
It’s just over 1,000 pages and the same price as the other $100 version that have anywhere from 200 to 400 pages less. So on page count alone you are getting a bargain.
I originally had the first version, never got to reading it because I was disappointed because the pages used glue binding and I could barely see the art in the middle. The covers were also almost all not properly aligned, and they even spelled Ditko’s name wrong in the back.
I mean did anyone at Marvel check on quality control? There is no excuse when you are charging $100 high end prices for obvious screw ups this bad.
Really, doesn’t anyone have a proof copy to look at before you decide to send a batch to the printers. I’m talking obvious errors here. And it’s my view that if you are charging High End prices, you had better do your best to fix any errors.
I think they rather rushed it to print.
Then the second print was announced and I was pissed cause I already bought print one.
I was lucky and eBay sold it and only lost about $10 difference.
The second print is BY FAR superior and the book I enjoy the most currently of all the Omnibus material. In this version it is all corrected.
The binding is sewn and it makes a huge difference. The art is easy to open and see. The covers are all corrected and the Ditko name is spelled right.
I think the sewn binding should be a standard in all Omnibus material. They are charging a high cover price and the sewn binding makes it so much easier to read and view.
I’ve started to read the book, and though I read them years ago. I’ve gained a new view on the material and how Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko really did craft a masterpiece of work. Remember this was Spidey way before the concepts we are familiar with now. This was being created history on the spot before anyone else got their hands on the character.
And for proof of how effective it is. I’m watching the Spectacular Spider-Man and a lot of story concepts and ideas are being lifted from this era.
It’s a great volume if you got the second print. In a way it is a shame to those who bought the first print and are missing this volume. My advise would be to eBay sell the first print and buy the second print. That way you will make up most of the money you spent.
But really you should get the second edition because the improvements are far superior.
Though I am going to order it online, at the comic shop I saw the Iron Man Omnibus on display. It was wrapped in the plastic still, so I couldn’t flip it open. But the size and look of it was impressive.
Speaking of Iron Man, he was in Free Comic Book Day with a Marvel Adventures issue with Spider-Man and the Hulk on the cover. Great stuff, and I hope you got it.
The comic shop was crowded but I got my fill and I hope you did to. After all, Free Comic Day is the one day when the industry and the comic shops give back, and that is a great idea.
Hi all,
We need the Eternals Omnibus released again. This volume, which I missed is going for over $100 online. And is no longer released. I admit I missed this volume and didn’t collect these books then.
But it seems from what I’ve seen online, the demand is there. And prices are really up there.
I really want to enjoy these Kirby issues. I also heard this original volume had glue binding. And the art in the middle was hard to see in some places.
Marvel Comics should issue this volume again, in a new print and use the sewn binding.
Anyone else have similar thoughts or ideas?

I’m hearing that the Iron Man Omnibus is out!
But only in comic shops. I’ve checked Amazon, but it’s not out yet. I’ll wait because I get a better deal online, then I ever get in my comic shop. Which is cover price plus tax. And their is no way I’m paying that. And you shouldn’t either. Online is the best place to buy Omnibus books on discount. Or to wait for a comic convention and see what the dealers have.
Sure, it takes a bit longer to wait online, but it’s worth it if you can save.
So give the Iron Man Omnibus a look if your comic store has a display copy. But order it online if you really want to save. Well, I can’t speak for you but that is my plan and how I order.

Just wanted to say that the Hulk Omnibus is planned for June. I’m planning to get the regular cover version. Not the Alex Ross cover variant. But to each their own, right?!
This nice volume will collect:
- Hulk #1-6, the Hulk’s Original 6-issue run before the series was canceled.
-Tales to Astonish #59-101, and Incredible Hulk #102.
Basically it covers all the Tales to Astonish run and then into Hulk #102 as the end point.
The numbering was picked up from Tales to Astonish and changed to the Hulk name for the books title again.
With writing Primarily by Stan Lee and Art by Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Gil Kane, Bill Everett and more. Yeah, it’s a must buy for me.
Hope you’ll like it as well.
I can’t wait to get the Iron Man Omnibus when it’s out. I always like the original cover versions and have not bought any variant covers. But that’s just my choice.
This Omnibus will have the much preferred sewn binding.
It Collects Tales of Suspense #39 to issue #83 and Tales to Astonish #82, which was a crossover book and part of a continued storyline.
In this first volume some amazing things happen.
We get to see:
- Iron Man’s origin
- The Ditko design used for the first red /gold armor.
- The evolution from the original gray armor, all the way to the classic red / gold armor that that lasted for decades.
- The start of his rogues gallery, especially the early stories of the Mandarin
- Stan Lee, Larry Lieber writing, with Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Don Heck, Gene Colan handling the art.
Yeah, this volume is a must buy for me, and I hope you too.
Bring on the Iron Man Omnibus!
